Short introduction of the CSIT

The CSIT is an international multi-sports organisation based on the ideas of the international labour movement: equality and solidarity in sport. Within the world of international sport, the CSIT maintains its support for everyone to benefit from sporting activities regardless of their qualifications, talent, nationality, age, sex and social circumstances.
The CSIT works in good co-operation with GAISF, ICSSPE and IOC international working group co-ordinating Sport for All.

The obligations of the CSIT are becoming increasingly important in these terms, when commercialisation and the lack of facilities and economic resources are reducing sport to passive entertainment for the vast majority of people.

The CSIT is an organisation which aims at promoting and broadening workers' sport activities and thus develop into a world-wide movement. This will support our aspirations for democracy, solidarity and improving the quality of life through sport. This movement will encompass all sports federations and hence will be able to provide better opportunities for varied physical exercise for all citizens.

The Congress is the highest CSIT body. It meets every three years; the Executive Committee is elected at this occasion. The General Assembly takes place every year when no Congress is held.

The Executive Committee has the task of conducting day-to-day business and of implementing all the decisions and guidelines adopted by the Congress or the General Assembly. Various Technical Committees/Commissions assist the Executive Committee in carrying out its tasks.

CSIT Championships

The Union members decide autonomously which sportsmen at which level may take part in the CSIT Championships. The CSIT does not impose international selection standards.

Fair play is very important!!

Sport is the most important objective, but the organiser also pays attention to social contacts and local culture. The CSIT has Championships in all modern sporting disciplines; for example: Athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, football, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, petanque, skiing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, wrestling.

Technical Committees/Commissions supervise the different sporting discipline. Every year more than 2000 sportsmen take part in CSIT championships.

There are Technical Committees/Commissions for: athletics, badminton, chess, football, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, petanque, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, basketball, wrestling and shooting.
